About UMCPS

This is the official web home of the Upper Midwest Carnivorous Plant Society (UMCPS), based in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA. Here you will find updates about meetings, activities, and where we'll be in the community. We will also occasionally post pictures of members' plants and collections - mostly to brag. ;-)

This meeting will feature getting messy!
We will also do a short talk on how to plant seeds and special requirements needed (if any.) Please come and ask questions if you have plants you want to propagate.

The meeting will be at the Ramsey-Washington Watershed Office (2665 Noel Dr, Little Canada, MN 55117) in Little Canada.

Grower Tour, Planning Meeting and Elections

This month we have our annual grower’s tour.
This year Micheala will be hosting, south Minneapolis. Sunday, Jan 14, 3 pm. Contact UMCPS at any of the below methods if you don’t already have the address.
Heliamphoras are her specialty, or at least what she is having the most success with at the moment. Come see the setup that is working!
Given the latest pics, there may even be a blooming heliamphoria.

It is time to plan for next year’s programs. We need people to volunteer to run programs and a field trip destination. Proposals for talks will be gladly accepted either by email or in person.

Being a new year, dues are up for renewal.

This year, the president is up for election. Do you have the desire to herd cats? Closet megalomania you need to let out? This could be the position for you!
Any member in good standing can nominate themselves for the position.

Nov 12 Meeting – Round Table Discussion of Dormancy

Since it is about this time of year that our plants go dormant, Richard will be leading a round table discussion about dormancy.
Getting them into dormancy is not usually the problem. How to prepare your plants so they actually come OUT of dormancy, now that is tougher!
Come prepared to discuss what works and what you may have tried that did not work.

The meeting will be back at the Ramsey-Washington Watershed Office (2665 Noel Dr, Little Canada, MN 55117) in Little Canada.
November 12th at the usual time of 3 pm.
